Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Toyota Highlander
For all of the drivers wondering about the Jeep Grand Cherokee vs. the Toyota Highlander, you’ve come to the right place! Welcome to our Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of North Savannah SUV comparison. We created this review with our customers around Savannah, Hardeeville, and Pooler, GA, in mind. So, keep reading and check it out.
Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Toyota Highlander: Impressive Towing Capacities
One of the most important aspects of an SUV is its towing capacity. In this department, the Jeep Grand Cherokee certainly doesn’t disappoint. With an available maximum towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds, you’ll be able to haul large items, such as RVs and small ski boats.
One the other hand, the Toyota Highlander won’t be able to handle as much. The Highlander’s towing capacity maxes out at 5,000 pounds on its higher-end trim levels. When you’re towing across town, an extra few thousand pounds makes a big difference.
Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Toyota Highlander: Engine Power and Torque
All of that towing power has to come from somewhere. In the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it comes right from its engine—or, one of its four engines, that is. Take a look at the Grand Cherokee engine lineup and their individual specs:
- 3.6L PentastarÒ V6: 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque
- 5.7L HEMIÒ V8: 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque
- 6.4L SRTÒ V8: 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque
- Supercharged 6.2L V8: 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque
Then, there’s the Toyota Highlander. The Highlander engine is a 3.5L V6, which produces 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque—almost identical to the Grand Cherokee’s base engine. However, it doesn’t allow you to upgrade past that point! Sure, it has a hybrid option—which only provides 186 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque—but it can’t compete with the power and versatility of the Grand Cherokee’s engine lineup.
Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Toyota Highlander: Off-Road Versatility
At the end of the day, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was built to fuel your passion for exploration—and, by that, we mean that it was designed to help you have fun across all types of terrain. For instance, an available Selec-TerrainÒ Traction Management System lets you choose between different driving modes for some off-roading adventures, including Snow, Sport, Auto, and Sand/Mud.
Just like the Grand Cherokee, the Toyota Highlander also has a similar feature to help maximize traction, detect slippage, and improve performance on a variety of driving surfaces. Multi-Terrain Select on All-Wheel Drive models offers drivers the choice between MUD & SAND, ROCK & DIRT, SNOW, and NORMAL modes.
