Ram 1500 vs Silverado 1500: Performance
When you’re behind the wheel of a truck, you expect some serious power under the hood. While both offer major oomph where it counts, there are some differences between these Ram and Chevrolet models.
The 2019 Ram 1500 gives you a choice of three engines. Standardly, this model is equipped with a 3.6L V6 that offers up to 350 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. But, the most powerful engine in the lineup is the 5.7L HEMI® V8. This comes with the mild-hybrid eTorque system that not only gives you a great MPG, but 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque as well.
Also available in the Ram 1500 is an advanced 4×4 system and 8-speed automatic transmission. These help the control of high amounts of power and give you seamless acceleration. Plus, available Four-Corner Suspension allows you to conquer any path and terrain with ease.
When you pop open the hood of the Silverado on the base model, you’ll find the 4.6L V6 engine. This gives you 285 horsepower, which is quite less than its competitor. And though this truck does make available their own 4×4 system, Four-Corner Suspension is only offered by Ram, leaving drivers with less capability.
2019 Ram 1500 vs 2019 Chevy Silverado: Towing Capacity
Whether you’re headed to the lake with the boat or maneuvering your way through the worksite, you’ll need an impressive towing capability to make your trip productive. Luckily enough, these pickups have you covered.
When properly equipped, the Ram 1500 reaches high towing ratings, coming in with a max capacity of up to 12,750 pounds. This is paired with an impressive payload of 2,300 pounds to add on extra hauling capability as well. Plus, towing is easy with this model. It comes with available trailering features that utilize cameras, sensors, and other handy tools that help keep your load safe and secure.
On the other hand, the Silverado 1500 model’s maximum towing capacity comes in a little lower at 12,200 pounds with a payload of 2,250 pounds. And though this model also features technology to assist with towing applications, it’s less advanced than what’s available in the Ram 1500.
Ram vs Chevy: Technology
No ride is complete without a suite of tech to keep you connected and entertained on the road. Ram does this by incorporating a ton of available features in their iconic truck. These include a large 12-inch touchscreen with split-screen capabilities, phone connectivity, navigation, and a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon® Premium Sound System.
The Silverado 1500 also offers an infotainment system with available phone connectivity and navigation. However, the display maxes out at 8.0 inches and has no split-screen capabilities, which could be harder to control while on the go. Additionally, its 6-speaker sound system doesn’t offer the same listening experience as the one listed above.
2019 Ram 1500 vs Chevy Silverado Car Comparison: Verdict
As you can see, the team at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram North Savannah thinks the extra power, more capability, and better technology in the Ram 1500 make this pickup a winner.
